Mediatization, polarization, and intolerance (between environments, media, and circulation)

Totem images Researcher Ana Paula da Rosa 23 , in turn, values the con- cept of totem images 24 , presented in her doctoral thesis and her object of studies related to the concept of mediatization. For her, to think about images today is to think about them in the ambiance of mediatization since the social processes are crossed by the logics of the media. However, talking about the construction of sym- bolic images demands addressing symbolic power (ROSA, 2014 p. 28). So, we can assume that totem images are the power pic- tures that constitute the symbols of an event.
