285 Authors VERA FRANÇA Professor of the Graduate Program in Communication at UFMG; founder and researcher of GRIS (Research Group on Image and Sociability at FAFICH/UFMG). She works in the areas of Communication Theories, Communication and Media Culture, Methodology of Communication Research. She has a degree in Social Communication/ Journalism from PUC-MG, a master’s de- gree in Communication from UnB, DEA, and a doctorate in Social Sciences from Université René Descartes – Paris V (1989-1993). She completed a postdoctoral internship in Sociology at CEMS (Center d’Études des Mouvements Sociaux) of École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), in France (2005-2006). She was president of the National Association of Graduate Pro- grams in Communication (COMPÓS) in the 2001-2003 bien- nium. She has developed and guided projects about interactive media processes, with an emphasis on television, the popular/ media relationship, and the analysis of events and celebrities. E-mail: veravfranca@yahoo.com.br MUNIZ SODRÉ He holds a Law degree from Universidade Federal da Bahia (1964), a Master’s Degree in Sociology of Information and Communication from Université de Paris IV (Paris-Sorbonne ) (1967) and a Doctorate in Letras (Science of Literature) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1978) and is a Professor in Communication at UFRJ. He is currently Emeritus Professor at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. He was president of the National Library Foundation from 2005 to 2011 – an organi- zation linked to the Ministry of Culture. He has about 40 books
