Abstract: The concern with the relationship between media and religion leads to this text, which signifies the desire and ex- pression of a journey, having as a fundamental element the media processes that constitute an elemental aspect that remains throughout all studies on communication. Each moment in his- tory is characterized by the way in which it understands and thematizes its communication processes. According to Eliseo Verón (Verón, 2013), since the beginning of humanity, communication processes have been carried out that have mediatization as their hallmark. For him, there has always been mediatization, although with characteristics and traits that come from reality. What is new is the extreme technological development experienced by humanity, which revolutionizes both the way of interrelations between people and institutions and their way of being and living in so- ciety (Faxina and Gomes, 2016; Gomes, 2017 and 2022). After a shaky start in the first attempts at communication as a process of socialization, humanity took its first leap with the invention of writing, radically transforming the way of being and living in society. Crawling in the experience of media processes, our ancestors began the first era of mediatization. A society of media was slowly emerging, with the media used on a large scale as technological instruments for communication. As technical progress evolved, society became increasingly complex. From writing on stones, in hieroglyphics, to papyrus, they eventually arrived, in the 15th century, at the shores of the press and movable type. 3 Que estou chamando de Salto Quâ tico.
