155 Media Processes: transformations of religious discourse in the context of algorithmization1 Processos midiáticos: transformações do discurso religioso no contexto da algoritmização Pedro Gilberto Gomes2 Abstract: The concern with the relationship between media and religion leads to this text, which signifies the desire and expres- sion of a journey, having as a fundamental element the media processes that constitute an elemental aspect that remains through- out all studies on communication. Each moment in history is characterized by the way in which it understands and thematizes its communication processes. According to Eliseo Verón (Verón, 2013), since the beginning of humanity, communication process- es that have mediatization as their hallmark have been carried out. For him, there has always been mediatization, although with characteristics and traits that come from reality. What is new is the extreme technological development experienced by humanity, which revolutionizes both the way of interrelations between people and institutions and its way of being and living in society (Faxina and Gomes, 2016; Gomes, 2017 and 2022).
