Each moment in history is characterized by the way it understands and thematizes its communication processes. According to Eliseo Verón (VERÓN, 2013), since the very dawn of humankind, communication pro- cesses that are marked by mediatization have been carried out. For him, there has always been mediatization, albeit with characteristics and traits that come from reality. What is new is the extreme technological development experienced by humanity, which revolutionizes both the way people and institutions interact with each other and their way of being and living in society (FAXINA & GOMES, 2016 and GOMES, 2017 and 2022). After a hesitant start in the first trials of communication as a process of socialization, humanity made its first leap5 with the invention of writing, radically transforming the way of being and living in society. As we were just starting to experience media processes, our ancestors began the first era of me- diatization. Slowly, a media society was emerging, with the me- dia being used on a large scale as technological instruments for communication. As technical progress evolved, society became increasingly complex. From writing on rocks, to hieroglyphics, to papyrus, they ended up docking, in the 15th century, on the shores of the printing press and movable type. The subsequent complexification began when, in the 18th century, the press was used as an instrument for disseminating ideas and news, culminating in the creation of daily news- papers. The establishment of media society began in full force. Independent in their actions, newspapers began to impose their logic on the vision and interpretation of reality. 5 Which I am calling a Quantum Leap.
