Antônio Fausto Neto 184 “public square” of mediatization. It is announced in the textual sphere of the newspaper itself, from whose space the ombuds- man says goodbye, announcing the reasons for his departure (Fausto Neto, 2008b). Such an event is emblematic, as it points to complex dynamics of circulation processes, transforming the mediational status of journalistic production. In addition to this, the system of newsworthiness production will be the stage for other phenomena that would dynamize and deepen the emerg- ing effects of circulation on the production of newsworthiness. The possibilities of transforming the ombudsman into a new interactional device between the media universe and so- ciety seem to constitute the embryo of a new communication zone. It would operate in the construction of new links between the media and their readers, in the sense of “annulling” distanc- es between contact circuits between them. Somehow, dynam- ics emerge that draw attention to the nature of a work woven from the discursive circulation, having as its context the “society undergoing mediatization.” It would mean a result of the com- plexification of the difference between producers and receivers, pointing to what would become the materialization of an “archi- tecture” of discontinuities between the systems of production and reception of messages. The non-linearity in the relations between media in- stitutions and social actors lies in the fact that the nature of the feedback produced results from the differences in grammars and logics that are inherent to them. This non-convergence of conditions to generate meanings causes the media to lose the centrality of their mediational work and, consequently, the possibilities of control over the discourses uttered by the receivers I . t would result in a new ambiance, in which the process of production of meanings would be woven through “zones of pregnance” (Fausto Neto, 2010a). A particularity of these would lie in the dynamics of interactions in the functioning of circulation. Instead of giving rise only to transmission operations of the issuing instance, circulation would be the locus in which discur- sive operations of different instances would co-affect themselves according to interfaces and whose meanings produced could not be predicted – nor controlled – a priori.
