Jairo Ferreira 262 themselves in institutions) and consumers (situated in private life), generating the public space between them. This does not necessarily require writing, since many social experiences (e.g., Inca, in Latin America) have differentiated themselves in institutions, public and private spaces without developing the media- tion of writing as a media device. With this preliminary proposition, the perspectives founded by Eliseo Verón are weighted to bring us closer to the construction of the problematization of mediatization in the current moment. The first reflection relates to the growing differentiation of the social production of meaning derived from the proliferation of media means available for interactions between institutions and private life. Thus, a paradox is established: on the one hand, there is a process of differentiation of meaning. This results in an “explosion of lags”, as the matrices of means, institutions and actors become more complex, proliferating collectives that seek intelligibility andmeaning in the multiplicity of interfaces that fol- low one another. On the other hand, the fulfillment of the cybernetic project (materialized in Artificial Intelligence, algorithms and platforms) is advancing, not as a utopia, but as a regulation (including authoritarian) of the social production of meaning. From a methodological point of view, to understand al- gorithms, it is necessary to go beyond the analysis of represen- tations in images, texts, sounds, and schemes in discourses or their fragments. Understanding the logics of algorithms as de- vices is central. For this, we return to Peirce’s semiotics, which offers us a path to do so, insofar as it allows the understanding of semiosis from the perspective of logic. It is, then, a matter of understanding the logics that organize signs, social discourses and their fragments into images, texts, sounds, schemes, signs, etc. This is the object of the next section. 3. A suggested perspective: unfolding the critiques of simulations, maps and territories The concept of simulation is not limited to its computational uses, although in the bibliography on artificial intelligence
