311 Communication and midiatization between gods and men1 Comunicação e midiatização entre deuses e homens Lucrécia D´Alessio Ferrara2 Abstract: Divided into sub-items whose titles guide reading, this work aims to study mediatization understood as a consequence of media societies. We study the use of platforms and algorithms as agents of informational environment that characterize con- temporary reality. This modulation is called mediatization and refers, therefore, not to the media, but to its consequences and to the new devices the possession of which is a mandatory el- ement of the new sociocultural reality. Mediatization acts as a new sovereign power, like other sovereignties that, since the 18th century, have been studied by political philosophy and oth- er areas of knowledge. One of them is communication, that often confuses media characteristics and mediatization, thus missing the opportunity to understand that it must study the con- sequences of the media.
