Mediatization, polarization, and intolerance (between environments, media, and circulation)

Jairo G. Ferreira 330 Jairo Ferreira Full Professor I of the Graduate Program in Communication Sci- ences at UNISINOS. Post-doctor in communication from UNR (Argentina). Graduated in Journalism (UFRGS, 1982) and Eco- nomic Sciences (UFRGS, 1992), he holds a Masters’ degree in Sociology (UFRGS, 1997) and a Ph.D. in Information in Educa- tion (UFRGS, 2002), with an interuniversity exchange doctorate at the Jean Piaget Archives and the Educational Technologies Unit from the School of Psychology and Education, University of Geneva (2000). Capes-Paped 2001 Award. He coordinates the Mediatization projects: empirical, epistemological, and meth- odological inferences of media research in Brazil and Sweden (CAPES/STINT) and the International Seminar on Research on Mediatization and Social Processes, north-south dialogues, in its IV Edition (2020), which brings together about 200 research- ers annually. He has coordinated the creation and is the editor of Quest es Transversais - Revista de Epistemologias da Comuni- cação. In 2016, he formulated and coordinated the International Seminar on Research on Mediatization and Social Processes. He coordinated the Project/PROCAD entitled Crítica Epistemológi- ca – Análise de investigaç es em curso, based on epistemologi- cal criteria, for reflective and praxiological developments in re - search in Communication with researchers from UFG, UFJF, and UNISINOS. He also has coordinated the Escola de Altos Estudos project entitled Midiatização, técnica e tecnologias de informa- ção e comunicação, which included the participation of Bernard Miège, Serge Proulx, and Patrice Flichy, with whom he organized three related books in 2016. He coordinated the Epistemology Working Group at COMPÓS between 2004 and 2006. He orga- nized 17 books and has about 90 chapters and articles published on the themes of epistemologies of communication and media- tization.
