Netactivism in the 21st century: the strengthening of social movements in the hashtag “black lives matter”
Abstract
The article aims to reflect and qualitatively analyze the #blacklivesmatter movement, as a potential example of social actions that are happening, growing and being widely viewed and disseminated through digital networks. The concept of netativism, therefore, explained in this work, values the understanding of authors who contemplate spaces that provide collectivity, democracy and social participation. It is intended to explore the “Black Lives Matter” movement, that demonstrate the strengthening cultural and historical aspects, brought from the streets to cyberspace and in opposite order. In this way, the context of the digital movement is brought up from 2020, through an exploratory and interpretive content analysis perspective.
