Mediatized Sapiens: Communicational knowledge

José Luiz Braga 42 point is to mark that the text was directly stimulated by an axis proposed by Prof. Jairo Ferreira, in the coordination of the or- ganizing group of the IV International Seminar on Research on Mediatization. The expression mediatized Homo sapiens, which named the event, proposes the relationship of our “mediatiza- tion” theme with the general and comprehensive characteriza- tion of the human species itself. This conjunction between a general reference to the human gender and a short-term historical specificity, still in progress, poses a problem and a challenge. The article aims to elaborate a communicational reflection on this correlation, seeking the perspective in which the two terms show a heuristically productive mutual strain. It leads to the second contextual point for writing the article. The lecture that preceded and fed this article was my presentation at the first of the five panels that make up one of the axes of the annual Mediatization Seminar2. This table was composed of Prof. Ciro Marcondes’ lecture and my speech. The event did not set specific angles for each table, apart from the general theme. It was, then, a coincidence that we both adopted the same perception of challenge, working on complementary reflections that emphasized the long-term relationship posed by the expression “Homo sapiens” to take conclusions relevant to our conceptions of communicational knowledge. We both noted in our speeches the satisfaction of find- ing such complementation. Later, when it turned out that this was Ciro's last participation in debates in the area, that coin- cidence of views moved me by confirming the subsequent ap- proach to the debates by different hypotheses in our knowledge productio A n. third aspect of elaboration concerns the necessary developments in the transfer of a speech, necessarily brief, to the elaboration of an article. About the video of my proposals prepared for the IV Seminar, I gave an internal interview (BRA- GA, 2020a) to our line of research to Ângelo Neckel, a doctoral student in Communication at UNISINOS. His questions compe- tently scrutinized aspects of necessary detail regarding what 2 The other axis is composed of ten to fifteen working groups where the group of participants discusses their research and proposals referring to different angles of work on the issue of mediatization.
